Description:
Discover the “Corazón Criollo” Route in the Traditional Urban Center of Caguas and the way in which “criollismo” is expressed in different aspects of city life. In cultural terms we will visit: the History Museum, where the settlement is seen from its origins with the indigenous population up to contemporary life in the City; the Popular Arts Museum, where our culture is seen through the work of artisans; and the Tobacco Museum, in which work in the industry for family sustenance is explored. This will be followed by a trolley ride through the Town Gates representing our cultural heritage. First, we will pass the Southern Gate (European Heritage) and the Eastern Gate (African Heritage). We will then take a walk through Honor Way to the Cagüitas River and over to the Concrete Sculpture Biennial Exhibition to admire boardwalk’s natural and artistic beauties. We will then continue the tour through the Northern Gate (Indigenous Heritage), which is the City’s Main Entrance. The ecologic aspect of “criollismo” will be seen as we pass the William Miranda Marín Botanic and Cultural Gardens, a place in which our racial fusion comes together. The route will end in Las Catalinas Mall, a modern space with over 120 stores to choose from for those who want to do some shopping.
